Our Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Topeka Public Schools Department of Speech and Language is to optimize students' freedom of communication and language choice, creating lifelong learners who possess the necessary knowledge and skills to be responsible, contributing members of the community and of a dynamic society.

Our Vision

1. The Speech/Language staff will support and empower students to become the most successful, independent communicators possible.

 

2. The Speech/Language Staff will support and empower parents to be involved in their childs speech/language development.

 

3. The Speech/Language staff will support and empower educators to make appropriate curriculum modifications and/or accommodations for students with speech/language impairments.

 

4. The Speech/Language staff will contribute to the professional community in a variety of venues.

 

5. The Speech/Language staff will provide education to raise community awareness of healthy communication practices and possible communication challenges.
